Egg Mania came out for the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by HotGen. It was one of those puzzle games that felt right at home on the handheld, simple to pick up but with enough going on to keep you hooked during short sessions or long trips. It didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a charm that stood out among other puzzle offerings at the time.
You control a little egg character who runs back and forth at the bottom of the screen, catching falling blocks and stacking them into a tower. The main goal is to build high enough to reach a floating exit door before the rising screen crushes you. Blocks vanish after a short time, bombs drop to blow gaps in your structure, and you often have to rebuild on the fly. The pace is relentless; mistakes pile up quickly, and one wrong placement can topple everything. It feels like a constant, frantic race against the screen, and pulling off a clean stack under pressure is genuinely satisfying.
