Eliminate Down is one of those shooters that feels like Thunder Force cranked up a notch—your ship zips through waves of enemies coming from every angle, and you’ve got three weapon types to juggle on the fly. The forward shot’s straightforward, but I kept switching to the rear shot when things got chaotic behind me. Missiles? Save those for when the screen’s packed.
Power-ups drop randomly, and grabbing five upgrades boosts all your weapons at once—no favoritism here. The stages throw midbosses at you before the real showdown, and some of those later bosses? Brutal. There’s even this weird but fun Whack-a-Mole minigame between stages where you smack spinning ship icons. Weirdly addictive.
It’s tough, but tweaking the ship speed helps when dodging gets ridiculous. You’ll probably replay the first few levels just to get the hang of weapon switching before the later stages chew you up.
