Eliminate Down came out for the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by a company called Flux and published by Soft Vision. It was part of that wave of shooters that really pushed the hardware, with detailed sprites and a lot of on-screen action, though it never got the same recognition as some of the bigger names from that era.
You pilot a ship through seven stages of relentless enemy formations and screen-filling bosses. Your main arsenal includes a standard forward shot, a rear-firing weapon for threats from behind, and limited-use screen-clearing missiles. The key to survival is constantly switching between your forward and rear guns to handle the multidirectional assault; power-ups are dropped by specific enemies, forcing you to sometimes risk a dangerous flight path to grab them. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is punishing, especially in the later levels where enemy patterns become brutally complex. It feels like a constant, tense juggling act between aggression and survival.
