EZ-Talk 3 is one of those weird little GBA carts you’d only stumble across if you were deep into Japanese imports or language-learning rabbit holes. It’s basically a tiny English/Japanese tutor disguised as a game—complete with awkward but endearing voice clips and mini-games that somehow make verb conjugations less painful.

Don’t expect RPG-level production values here. The menus are straight out of a 2002 educational CD-ROM, and the "conversations" are… well, let’s just say you won’t mistake them for real dialogue. But there’s something oddly satisfying about grinding through vocabulary matches or nailing a listening quiz while waiting for the bus. It’s the kind of thing you’d use semi-ironically at first, then catch yourself actually learning from.

If you collect obscure GBA trivia or need a break from Duolingo’s guilt trips, this is a charmingly janky alternative. Just don’t blame me when you start dreaming in pixelated textbook phrases.
