Game Overview

F1 Boy is a 1991 Game Boy racing game developed by Natsu System and published by Coconuts Japan. It arrived early in the handheld's life, a time when developers were still figuring out how to translate complex sports into a small, monochrome format. This game represents one of the many attempts to bring Formula 1's speed and precision to a portable screen.

You control a single F1 car from a top-down perspective, racing against aggressive AI opponents on tight, narrow tracks. The main objective is to win each Grand Prix by finishing first, which requires careful management of your car's limited fuel and worn tires. Signature mechanics include a very unforgiving collision system where any wall contact spins you out, and a fuel management strategy that forces you to lift off the throttle on straights to conserve for the final laps. The pacing is tense and the difficulty is high, with one mistake often ruining an entire race. It feels like a constant battle against the track itself and your own limited resources.
