Game Overview

F1 (Europe) on the Sega Genesis is one of those racing games that just feels fast. The second you hit the gas, the screen blurs, and you're suddenly wrestling with tight corners and aggressive AI drivers who don’t give an inch. The tracks—Monaco, Silverstone, Spa—are instantly recognizable, though good luck nailing Eau Rouge without spinning out at least once.

It’s not a sim, but it’s not mindless either. You’ll actually need to brake before turns (unlike some arcade racers), and wet weather races turn into a hilarious, chaotic slidefest. The cars handle like they’re on the edge of control, which makes nailing a perfect lap weirdly satisfying. Also, the engine noise is pure ’90s Sega—grating in the best way.

If you’ve got nostalgia for early ’90s F1 or just want a no-nonsense racer that doesn’t overcomplicate things, this one holds up surprisingly well. Just don’t blame me when you restart Monaco for the tenth time.
