Famista 2 came out for the Game Boy in 1992, developed by Namco. It was one of those portable baseball games you could actually finish in a sitting, back when handhelds were all about quick bursts of play. It didn't try to be a full season simulator; it was just baseball, stripped down to its basics.
You control a team of tiny players, batting and fielding through short, fast innings. The main goal is to outscore the opponent within a few innings, not a full nine. Key mechanics include timing your swing to hit homers and swapping between pitcher and fielder control with a button press. The pacing is brisk, with games rarely dragging, though the AI can put up a decent fight on higher difficulties. It feels satisfying to connect with a pitch and watch that little ball sail over the fence.
