Fido Dido came out on the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed by Sega and published by them as well. It was part of that wave of games trying to capture a specific cartoon attitude, a little offbeat compared to the platformers and fighters that usually dominated the system. You control Fido Dido, a stick-figure guy with springy legs, and you move through surreal, multi-tiered levels. The main goal is just to reach the exit, but you spend a lot of time bouncing. His primary movement is a high, floaty jump; you can kick off walls to gain height or change direction, which is essential for navigating the vertical spaces. Enemies are these oddball food-based enemies, like walking french fries, and you defeat them by jumping on their heads or kicking them. The pacing is slow and deliberate, focused more on precise jumps and exploration than on speed. It feels loose and a little unwieldy, like you're guiding a cheerful, reckless doodle through a daydream.
