FILA Decathlon was a 2003 Game Boy Advance release from developer Aqua Pacific and publisher Midas Interactive Entertainment. It arrived during a period when the handheld was saturated with licensed sports titles, and this one focused purely on the ten event discipline. The presentation was straightforward, with simple character sprites and functional menus that got you into the competition quickly.
You control an athlete through the full decathlon, managing a different control scheme for each event. The main objective is to post the highest score possible across all ten disciplines to earn a medal. Signature mechanics include rapid button mashing for the running events, carefully timed button presses for the jumps, and complex analog stick rotations for the javelin and discus throws. The pacing is relentless, as a poor performance in one event can ruin your entire meet, and the difficulty is unforgiving, demanding precision. It feels like a constant battle against the clock and your own thumb stamina.
