Play Fire Shark Online
You weave through swarms of enemy planes in a tricked-out biplane, blasting battleships and dodging ground fire while scrambling to grab power-ups before they disappear. The screen’s always moving, and those slow blimps hiding upgrades? Better hit 'em fast.

Fire Shark came out for the Sega Genesis in 1990, developed by Toaplan. It was one of those vertical shooters that felt right at home on the system, sitting alongside other arcade-style releases that demanded quick reflexes and a steady hand. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it had a certain straightforward appeal that kept you coming back.
You pilot a fighter plane through a series of military-themed stages, shooting down enemy aircraft, tanks, and ships. The main goal is to survive each stage and defeat the boss at the end. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups to upgrade your main and secondary weapons, as well as a screen-clearing bomb for tight situations. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming from all directions, and the difficulty is unforgiving, especially in later levels. It feels tense and urgent, especially when you're desperately trying to grab a power-up before it scrolls offscreen.
