Flappy Special is a weird little Game Boy puzzle game where you play as a mole—Flappy, apparently—shoving blue stones around. At first glance, it looks simple, but then you realize you can’t pull the stones, only push them, and gravity actually matters for them (but not for Flappy, because logic).
There are two modes, each with 80 levels: one’s more about careful puzzle-solving, the other throws more enemies at you. The levels are a mix of stuff from the PC-88 and NES versions, so if you’ve played those, some might feel familiar. Messing up means losing a life—either by touching an enemy or getting squashed by a falling stone (yes, the stones can crush you too). It’s the kind of game where you’ll stare at the screen for five minutes, then realize the solution was to drop a rock on an enemy’s head.
Honestly, it’s oddly satisfying when you finally get a level right.
