Flicky came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed and published by Sega. It was one of those early platformers that felt simple but had a surprising amount of personality, fitting right in with the arcade style games that were common at the time.

You control a small blue bird named Flicky, and your goal is to rescue all the chirping baby birds, called Piopios, on each screen. You guide them one by one to the exit door, but cats and other enemies will try to snatch them away. You can stun enemies by picking up and throwing items like pots and cups that are scattered around the stages. The challenge comes from herding your group of chicks through narrow passages and past persistent predators without losing any. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty ramps up quickly as later levels introduce more hazards and tighter spaces. It feels both frantic and satisfying when you manage to lead a whole line of Piopios to safety.
