Fun Car Rally (Proto) is one of those weird little Genesis racing games that somehow slipped through the cracks—which is a shame, because it's got this chaotic energy that makes it way more fun than it has any right to be. You're basically throwing a tiny car around these twisty, pixelated tracks, dodging oil slicks and trying not to spin out on hairpin turns while the soundtrack blares that classic early '90s synth.
At first it feels like a simpler OutRun clone, but then you realize there's actually some strategy—like when to use your limited nitro boosts or which risky shortcut might shave seconds off your time. The physics are arcadey but just unpredictable enough that you'll curse when you clip a barrier and spin wildly off-course. And yeah, it's definitely rough around the edges (it is a prototype), but that almost adds to the charm. If you've got a soft spot for forgotten Sega gems, this one's a blast to dig up.
