Okay, so Garou Mark of the Wolves is one of those Neo Geo fighters that just feels right—like slipping into a favorite pair of sneakers. It’s got that classic SNK style, but with smoother animations and way more polish than, say, Fatal Fury back in the day. You pick your fighter (Rock Howard’s my go-to, but Tizoc’s wrestling moves are stupid fun), and then it’s just pure, no-nonsense brawling.
The first thing you’ll notice? The hits have weight. Landing a combo feels like you’re actually cracking ribs, and the Just Defend mechanic—where you block at the last second—gives fights this tense back-and-forth rhythm. Also, no fireball spamming here. You’ve gotta actually learn your character’s quirks, because some of the T.O.P. system buffs can totally flip a match if you time them right.
It’s got that arcade vibe where you’ll lose a few rounds just figuring out how not to get wrecked by AI, but when you finally nail that perfect counter, it’s *chef’s kiss*. Definitely one of the last great 2D fighters before everything went 3D.
