Man, Gojira on the Game Boy is one of those weird little games that just works. You’re Godzilla—like, full-on, stomp-through-Tokyo Godzilla—and the screen’s so small you can barely see the destruction you’re causing, but somehow that makes it even funnier. Buildings crumble into blocky pixels, tanks fire pea-sized missiles at you, and every now and then another kaiju shows up to throw hands (or wings, or tentacles).
It’s janky in that classic Game Boy way, but the controls are simple enough that you’ll be wrecking cities within seconds. Tail swipe left, atomic breath right, repeat until everything’s rubble. The military fights back, but let’s be real: you’re a 50,000-ton lizard. Their tiny bullets barely tickle.
If you’ve ever wanted to live out your "monster with a heart of gold" fantasy on a road trip or during a lunch break, this is the game for you. Just don’t blame me when you catch yourself muttering "skreeeonk" under your breath after a particularly satisfying rampage.
