Play Great Courts Online
Great Courts is a 1989 Amiga tennis game featuring arcade-style matches, single and multiplayer modes, and multiple court surfaces affecting gameplay.
Great Courts came out for the Amiga in 1989, developed by Lankhor and published by Microïds. It was one of the more polished tennis games available on the platform at the time, offering a straightforward sports experience without the complexity of later simulations.
You control a tennis player from an isometric perspective, moving them around the court to hit forehands, backhands, lobs, and smashes. The main objective is to win matches by outscoring your opponent in sets, either against the computer or a second player. Signature mechanics include the ability to choose between different court surfaces like grass or clay, which noticeably change the ball's speed and bounce, and a simple timing based shot system where well executed swings are crucial. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can be challenging, especially when the computer opponent starts reading your shots. It feels responsive and satisfying when you place a winning shot just inside the line.
