Hamster Monogatari 2 is one of those weird little GBA games that somehow makes cleaning up hamster poop weirdly satisfying. You start with a tiny furball in a bare cage, and before long you're obsessing over which pastel-colored tubes to buy or whether your hamster prefers sunflower seeds over carrots. (Spoiler: they'll stuff their cheeks with anything.)
The mini-games are ridiculous in the best way—racing on a wobbly wheel feels like the rodent Olympics, and good luck keeping track of them when they start burrowing under the bedding. I lost mine for a solid minute once, only to find it napping inside a tiny sock. The breeding part gets oddly addictive too—your first litter of pink, squirming babies is equal parts horrifying and adorable.
It's not deep, but there's something weirdly calming about the whole thing. Just don't name your hamsters unless you want your heart broken when they eventually... you know. GBA games don't usually make me emotional over pixel rodents, but here we are.
