Okay, so Hamster Monogatari Collection is basically the reason I still keep my GBA around. It’s this absurdly cute Japanese hamster-raising sim where you start with a tiny, hyperactive fluffball and try not to squeal every time it does literally anything—like when it faceplants into its food bowl or falls asleep mid-wheel-run.
You’ve got all the usual pet sim stuff—feeding, cleaning, playing—but the details kill me. There’s a mini-game where you blow into the mic (yes, the GBA had one!) to dry your hamster after a bath. Mine kept sneezing. Also, the outfits? Tiny hats. Tiny samurai armor. I wasn’t prepared.
It’s got that early 2000s pixel charm, where everything’s just a little janky in the best way. If you’ve ever wanted a pet but feared real-life consequences, this is your guilt-free fix. Just don’t blame me when you catch yourself whispering “kawaii” at the screen.
