Game Overview

High Heat Major League Baseball 2002 for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2002, developed by Team .366 and published by 3DO. It was one of the more polished baseball titles on the handheld, arriving at a time when portable sports games were starting to feel less like stripped down versions of their console counterparts.

You control either a pitcher or a batter, aiming to outscore the opposing team over nine innings. As a pitcher, you select from a variety of pitches using the D-pad and meter system, trying to hit the catcher's target without leaving one over the plate. When batting, you time your swing with the A button, watching for pitch speed and location to make solid contact. The game moves at a brisk pace, with quick innings and responsive controls that keep you engaged. Fielding is mostly automated, letting you focus on the core duel between pitcher and hitter. It feels satisfying to connect on a well timed fastball and watch it sail over the outfield wall.
