Highway Hawks is one of those classic Amiga games where you’re basically a road warrior with a tricked-out car. You’ve got a gun mounted on top, and the whole point is to survive long enough to reach the end of each level—easier said than done when every other driver seems out to wreck you.
The camera sticks behind your car, so you’re always watching your back (literally). Fuel drains steadily, so you’re constantly scanning the road for gas cans while dodging traffic. If you’re feeling bold, you can jump ramps for time bonuses or blast trucks to see if they drop extra ammo—just don’t get too trigger-happy, or you’ll run dry.
Between levels, you spend your cash on upgrades—faster engines, better weapons, that kind of thing. The faster and more destructive you are, the more money you get, so there’s a nice risk-reward balance between playing it safe and going full demolition derby. It’s simple, chaotic, and weirdly satisfying when you pull off a clean run.
