Play Hokuto no Ken – Shin Seikimatsu Kyuuseishu Densetsu Online
Punching dudes until they explode in pixelated gore, wandering a wasteland where every thug learns too late that they're already dead. Chunky arcade combat with Kenshiro's ridiculous "ATATATATA" flurries and enemies that burst like overripe fruit.
Hokuto no Ken – Shin Seikimatsu Kyuuseishu Densetsu came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed and published by Sega. It was one of the many licensed games of that era, trying to capture the brutal charm of the Fist of the North Star manga and anime on a 16-bit console.
You control Kenshiro, the series' stoic hero, moving screen by screen through a post apocalyptic landscape. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped fiancée Yuria from a succession of warlords. The combat is built around landing rapid punch combos that end with a signature Hokuto Shinken technique, causing enemies to dramatically explode. You explore towns and wilderness areas, talking to survivors for clues and occasionally fighting bosses. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with enemies swarming you from all sides. It feels like a raw, slightly clunky translation of the source material's over the top violence into a side scrolling brawler.
