Hot Wheels: World Race came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, published by THQ. It was part of that wave of licensed games that tried to capture the feel of the toy line, and for a handheld racer from that era, it had a certain charm. You weren't getting a graphical powerhouse, but it was a solid attempt to put those little cars in your pocket.
You control one of several Hot Wheels cars, racing on twisting, multi-level tracks against a pack of AI opponents. The main goal is to win each race, earning points to unlock new cars and progress through the World Race circuit. The driving relies heavily on drifting to maintain speed around sharp corners, and you can perform stunts off ramps to get a temporary nitro boost. The tracks are designed with plenty of verticality and alternate paths, encouraging you to find the fastest line. It's not an easy game; the AI is aggressive and the courses demand precise control. At its best, it feels like you're guiding a little metal toy on a wild, unpredictable track.
