Play Hunchback of Notre Dame Online
Swing between Notre Dame's towers as Quasimodo, timing your jumps just right between those relentless archers—his awkward sprint somehow feels perfect once you get the rhythm.

I picked up Hunchback of Notre Dame for the Game Boy sometime around 1997, a release from Tomy. It was one of those many licensed platformers that filled the portable library back then, based on the Disney film. You don't see it talked about much, but it had a certain charm for what it was, a straightforward action game you could play in short bursts.
You control Quasimodo, moving screen by screen through the cathedral and the streets of Paris. Your main goal is to rescue Esmeralda from Frollo's clutches. The gameplay involves a lot of jumping across gaps and climbing up ropes or chains. You fight guards with your fists, and you also use a bell swinging mechanic to cross larger spaces, which requires some careful timing. The difficulty is pretty consistent, not too punishing but it keeps you paying attention. It feels like a solid, no-frills platformer from that era.
