Hyper Dunk came out for the original Game Boy, a sports title from TOSE that tried to capture some of the arcade basketball energy on the small screen. You control a team of two players, switching between them to move up the court, pass, and shoot. The main goal is to outscore the computer or a friend in two player mode. Key mechanics include timing your jumps for blocks and rebounds, and a special turbo button for a short burst of speed that drains your stamina. The pacing is frantic, with the AI applying constant defensive pressure that makes every possession a struggle. It feels like a scrappy, chaotic playground game where a single steal can completely turn the momentum.
