I picked up Island Xtreme Stunts for the Game Boy Advance back in 2002, a time when handhelds were really hitting their stride with action titles. It was published by Electronic Arts, and it fit right in with the kind of fast-paced, stunt-focused games that were popular then. You could tell it was aiming for that adrenaline rush in a portable format.
You control a stunt driver racing across varied island terrain, from beaches to jungles, pulling off tricks and avoiding hazards. The main goal is to complete courses while racking up points through flips, spins, and near misses. Key mechanics include performing combos by chaining stunts together and navigating obstacle-laden tracks that require quick reflexes. The pacing is pretty relentless; one mistake can cost you a lot of momentum. It feels chaotic and demanding, but pulling off a perfect run is genuinely satisfying.
