Play Jankenman Online
Dodging paper shurikens and slamming rock fists in rapid-fire rock-paper-scissors duels—that samurai AI reads your moves like a psychic. Two-player matches turn into sweaty bluffing wars.

I picked up Jankenman for the Game Boy back in 1991, a Hudson Soft release that fit right in with the portable library of the time. It was a quirky title, one of those games that didn't try to be the next big adventure but offered something different, something built around a simple childhood game.
You control a character who explores a castle, room by room, challenging enemies to rounds of rock-paper-scissors. The main goal is to defeat the castle's boss by winning these high-stakes duels. Each enemy has a pattern, a tell you need to learn to counter their throws effectively. The combat is entirely timing and prediction based; you watch for their slight movements, then quickly input your own throw to beat theirs. It's a game of intense focus and quick reflexes, where a single misjudgment can cost you. Playing it feels like a tense, fast-paced mind game where every victory is earned through observation and speed.
