Game Overview

Jet Set Radio for the Game Boy Advance, released in 2003 by THQ, was a bold attempt to bring the Dreamcast's stylish rollerblading action to a handheld. It arrived during a time when developers were pushing the limits of the GBA, trying to fit ambitious 3D-inspired games onto hardware that was better suited for 2D sprites. This version stands as a curious and somewhat scrappy interpretation of its source material.

You control a member of the GGs, a graffiti-tagging street gang, skating through the futuristic districts of Tokyo-to. The main goal is to claim territory from rival crews by covering their tags with your own, all while evading a relentless police force. Signature mechanics include grinding on rails and pipes to build speed, and using the shoulder buttons to aim and spray your graffiti on designated spots. The pacing is frantic, with levels that demand quick reflexes and smart route planning to avoid getting cornered. It feels like a hectic, slightly janky race against the clock where every successful tag is a small victory.
