Play Kaitei Daisensou (Japan) Online
Pilot a clunky little sub through enemy waters—dodging mines, adjusting depth, and lining up torpedo shots while everything tries to sink you. The controls feel awkward at first, then suddenly tactical.

Kaitei Daisensou, released by Taito in 1980 and playable today through MAME, is a submarine shooter from the early arcade era. It arrived at a time when games were still exploring how to translate real world scenarios into simple, repeatable action. You control a small sub, navigating through a side scrolling aquatic battlefield filled with enemy ships, mines, and other hazards.
You pilot the submarine, moving left and right while adjusting your depth to avoid obstacles and enemy fire. The main objective is to survive as long as possible, destroying enemy vessels with a limited supply of torpedoes. Key mechanics include managing your depth to dodge mines that hang at different levels and carefully aiming torpedoes which travel slowly and require lead time to hit targets. The pacing is deliberate, almost tense, as you conserve ammunition and pick your shots. It feels like a cautious, tactical duel against the entire ocean.
