Kid Gloves came out on the Amiga in 1990 from Millennium Interactive and Future Publishing. It was one of those platformers that felt right at home on the system, with colorful graphics and a straightforward premise that didn't try to overcomplicate things. You played as a hero named Kid, and your goal was to rescue your girlfriend from a castle, navigating through a series of distinct, screen-by-screen levels filled with various enemies and obstacles.
You control Kid directly, moving him through each static screen, jumping on platforms and avoiding or attacking foes like snakes and elves. The main objective is to progress through the castle, but you also collect coins scattered throughout the levels. Every five screens, you can visit a shop to spend those coins on essential items like extra lives, bombs, or better weapons. The game offers some multiple paths, adding a bit of exploration, but the pacing is quick and the difficulty can be unforgiving with its precise jumps and persistent enemies. It feels like a tense, methodical crawl where every coin matters and every purchase is a calculated risk.
