Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed and published by Namco. It was part of that era where familiar platforming mascots were getting experimental spin-offs, and this one took the series in a completely different direction.
You control Klonoa and his friends in a turn-based RPG, moving across an overworld map and exploring towns and dungeons screen by screen. Your main goal is to collect the scattered pieces of the legendary Star Medal. Combat uses an active timing system where you press buttons to execute attacks or defend, and you can perform special combo moves with your party members. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is manageable, though some boss fights require careful strategy. It feels like a lighthearted, slightly quirky adventure that never takes itself too seriously.
