Game Overview

Konami Sports came out for the Game Boy in 1990, published by Konami itself. It was part of that early wave of portable games where developers tried to fit big concepts onto a small, green screen. You got a collection of sports in one cartridge, which was pretty common for the time, offering variety instead of deep simulation.

You control an athlete in events like tennis, soccer, and volleyball, using the D-pad and two buttons to pass, shoot, or swing. The main goal is just to win each match or race against the computer opponent. The mechanics are simple; timing your button press for a powerful shot in tennis or aiming a kick in soccer are the core interactions. The game moves at a brisk pace, and the difficulty can feel unforgiving if your timing is off. It feels straightforward and sometimes a little stiff, but there's a clear satisfaction in landing a perfect serve.
