Game Overview
Lancaster puts you in the cramped seat of a WW2 bomber gunner, and it’s way more intense than I expected. First, you’re staring down enemy fighters through the cockpit glass, frantically dragging your crosshair to pick them off before they shred your wings. The mouse controls feel surprisingly natural—until you realize you’re also dodging flak bursts and trying not to waste ammo.
Then it flips to this weirdly tense overhead view where you’re suddenly steering the whole plane, lining up bombing runs with a handful of payloads. Miss a factory or hit the wrong building, and you’ll limp home empty-handed. The Amiga’s chunky pixels somehow make the explosions even more satisfying when you nail a target.
It’s one of those games where you’ll restart the second mission five times just to save one extra bomb for the bridge.
