Dodging neon bullet hell in a samurai mech while your orbiting drones switch formations—turn them into shields, lasers, or spread shots depending on how badly the cyber-kabuki bosses are wrecking you.

M.U.S.H.A. is one of those Genesis shooters that just oozes style—imagine feudal Japan got a sci-fi makeover, and you're piloting a slick mech straight out of a samurai's fever dream. The usual Aleste formula is here (tight controls, screen-filling bullets), but everything's cranked up with pagodas floating in space and enemies that look like they escaped from a cybernetic kabuki theater.
What really hooks you is the satellite system—those little helper drones orbiting your mech aren't just for show. Tinkering with their formations (spread shot? focused laser? circling shields?) changes how you carve through each level. First time I played, I stuck with the default setup until level 3's boss wrecked me, then realized swapping to a rotating barrier formation made all the difference. Also, the soundtrack slaps—expect synth-heavy battle themes that somehow make shuriken-launching robots feel even cooler.
It's tough as nails by the end, but in that satisfying way where every retry feels like you're mastering some ancient mecha-ninja art. Just don't blame me when you start humming the stage 1 theme for days.
