Play Madden '96 Online
Madden '96 on Game Boy nails that quick-hit football fix—call plays with robotic QB barks, sub players on the fly, and run seasons with real '95 rosters. Feels like last year’s game but tighter, especially if you’ve got a buddy for two-player mode.

Game Overview
Madden '96 on Game Boy feels like a slightly tweaked version of the previous year’s game—which isn’t a bad thing if you just want some portable football. No NFL teams here, but the rosters and schedules match the real 1995 season, right down to the new Panthers and Jaguars. You even get the two-point conversion rule, which was fresh at the time.
They trimmed the fat, though—no more practice or Pro Bowl modes, just exhibition, season, and playoffs. The All-Madden team is still there if you want to mess around in a quick game. The playbook got a reshuffle, and for the first time, your QB actually barks out calls (in charmingly robotic Game Boy audio).
Same top-down view as before, same chunky sprites, but now you can sub any position. And if you’ve got a Super Game Boy, two-player mode adds this weird bluffing mini-game where you try to psych out your opponent. It’s janky, but kind of fun when you’re bored of regular matches. Still the best way to get your football fix on a road trip in 1996.
