Madden NFL 2005 on the GBA is one of those rare handheld sports games that doesn’t feel like a stripped-down version of the console release. The graphics are surprisingly crisp for the tiny screen, and the physics actually make tackles and passes feel weighty—not just stiff animations. I remember being shocked at how smooth the running animations were compared to earlier GBA Maddens.
It’s got all the usual franchise modes, but the real surprise was how well the AI plays defense. You can’t just spam deep throws every down like in some older versions. And yeah, the commentary’s obviously limited, but they squeezed in way more lines than you’d expect. Still holds up if you’re into retro football games.
