Play Marathon Online
1995 Amiga side-scrolling shooter. Features alien enemies, multiple weapons, non-linear levels with secrets, boss battles, and password saves.

I first played Marathon on the Amiga back in 1995, a game developed by Bungie and published by Duragon Software. It arrived during a time when the Amiga was still a solid platform for action games, though it was starting to face stiff competition from newer systems. Marathon didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it offered a polished and challenging experience that felt right at home on the hardware.
You control a lone marine fighting through alien-infested corridors and industrial complexes. Your main goal is to survive each level, find keycards to open new areas, and ultimately defeat the alien threat. The game plays out screen by screen, with non-linear exploration that rewards thorough searching for hidden passages and weapon upgrades. Combat is fast and unforgiving; you switch between a variety of guns, from pistols to plasma rifles, to take down diverse enemies and occasional boss fights. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty encourages careful movement and quick aiming. It feels tense and immersive, especially when you're low on health and surrounded by enemies.
