Master of Weapon came out for the Sega Genesis in 1989, developed and published by Taito. It was part of that early wave of Genesis titles, a time when developers were still figuring out what the hardware could really do, often resulting in games that felt ambitious but a little rough around the edges.
You control a lone soldier navigating a series of single-screen rooms, clearing each one of enemies before you can proceed. Your main weapon is a sword that fires short-range projectiles, but you can find temporary upgrades like a spread shot or a more powerful laser. The objective is to survive through numerous floors, each more densely packed with foes than the last. The pacing is relentless; enemies spawn quickly and attack from all sides, demanding constant movement and precise aim. It feels like a desperate fight for survival where every mistake costs you dearly.
