Game Overview

Remember those old-school typing tutors that actually made you feel like you were in a classroom? Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing on the Amiga nails that vibe. You start off staring at a chalkboard while Mavis—this no-nonsense digital teacher—walks you through the basics. First lesson? Just "ASDF," but trust me, even that feels weird when you're trying to use the right fingers.

The keyboard layout shows up on screen with little hand diagrams, which helps until you panic and start pecking like a chicken. And yeah, you can switch to Dvorak if you're feeling fancy, but good luck explaining that to your fingers.

Between lessons, there's this weirdly addictive racing minigame where you type against scrolling text—mess up, and your car sputters behind AI opponents who somehow always know the word "antidisestablishmentarianism." The graphs tracking your progress are oddly satisfying, though. Watching your speed creep up over time almost makes up for the humiliation of losing to a virtual typist named "Speedy Gonzales."

It’s one of those games that’s secretly punishing but weirdly rewarding when you finally stop looking at the keys.
