Play Mazin Saga Online
One minute you're throwing kicks as a martial artist, the next you're smashing through enemies as a screen-filling mech—those sudden power shifts make every fight feel wild. SEGA nailed that "oh damn" moment when your combo suddenly turns you into a giant robot.

Mazin Saga came out on the Sega Genesis in 1993, developed and published by Sega. It was part of that wave of games trying to blend different genres, a common experiment on the system where developers weren't afraid to get a little weird. You don't see many games that try to be a beat 'em up and a shooter at the same time.
You control a warrior who fights through side-scrolling stages, using punches, kicks, and a sword against various enemies. The main goal is to defeat the evil emperor, but the real hook is the transformation. By landing enough hits, you build a meter that lets you turn into a giant, screen-filling robot, which completely changes the gameplay to a slower, more powerful shoot 'em up style. The pacing is aggressive, demanding you fight well to earn those transformations, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly. It feels like managing two different games at once, constantly pushing you to earn that moment of overwhelming power.
