Medabots AX: Rokusho Version came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2003, developed by Natsume and published by Ubisoft. You control a kid who commands a Medabot, Rokusho, in turn-based battles viewed from a side-on perspective. The main goal is to win tournaments by defeating other Medabots, earning new parts to upgrade your own. A key mechanic is swapping out Rokusho's components, like his head, arms, legs, and medal, between matches to change his stats and available special attacks. Battles play out on a single screen where you and your opponent take turns selecting attacks, targeting specific enemy parts to disable their abilities. The strategy comes from anticipating your opponent's moves and customizing your loadout to counter them, and the difficulty can spike sharply if you enter a fight unprepared. It feels like solving a quick, tactile puzzle each time you enter a new match.
