I picked up Metal Fangs on the Sega Genesis back in 1993, a game developed by NCS and published by Masaya. It was one of those titles that felt a bit different from the usual platformers and shooters of the era, offering a mix of strategy and action that wasn't very common on the system at the time.
You control a squad of armored vehicles, moving through a post-apocalyptic world in a turn-based system. Your main goal is to eliminate enemy units across various missions, using different weapons and managing your limited ammunition. The combat is grid-based, requiring you to position your vehicles carefully and choose attacks based on range and facing. The difficulty is pretty unforgiving; one wrong move can leave you exposed and quickly destroyed. It feels tense and methodical, demanding patience and tactical thinking with every encounter.
