Game Overview

Mike Tyson Boxing came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, developed by Codemasters. It was one of those sports titles that tried to push the hardware a bit, arriving during a time when the GBA library was filling out with all sorts of experiments in portable action.

You control a boxer from a third-person perspective, throwing jabs, hooks, and uppercuts with the face buttons while using the D-pad to dodge and weave. The main goal is to work your way up through the ranks in the World Title mode, facing off against a roster of one hundred fighters, each with their own style; some are straightforward brawlers, others fight dirty and require more careful timing to counter. A signature mechanic is the dynamic camera that tilts and shifts with the action, making punches feel like they have real weight and impact. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly against certain opponents. It feels like a genuine test of reflexes and pattern recognition, especially when you finally land that perfect counter and send your opponent to the canvas.
