Play Momotarou Collection (Japan) Online
You play as Momotarou recruiting a dog, monkey, and pheasant to beat up goofy-looking demons in tiny pixel villages—the broken English dialogue just adds to the weird charm.

Momotarou Collection came out for the Game Boy in 1996, developed by Hudson Soft. It was part of that wave of late-era Game Boy titles that tried to squeeze a little more out of the hardware before the Color model arrived. The game adapts the classic Japanese folktale of Momotarou, the peach-born boy, into a simple but earnest adventure that feels very much of its time.
You control Momotarou as he moves screen by screen through the world, recruiting his three animal companions: a dog, a monkey, and a pheasant. Each ally has a unique ability that helps you overcome obstacles or defeat enemies. The main goal is to explore villages and dungeons, fighting off comical demons and collecting items to progress. Combat is straightforward, mostly involving close attacks, but the need to strategically use your companions keeps things engaging. The pacing is relaxed, and the challenge is moderate, never becoming overly frustrating. It feels like a small, hand-held storybook coming to life through quiet exploration and occasional silly battles.
