Mr. Heli came out for the Amiga in 1987, developed by Irem. It was one of those straightforward shooters you’d find on the platform back then, not overly flashy but solid in its execution. The game didn’t try to reinvent the wheel; it just gave you a helicopter and a job to do.
You pilot a small helicopter through side-scrolling levels, tasked with rescuing soldiers stranded on the ground while fending off enemy tanks, jets, and turrets. Your main objective is to clear each stage by defeating all enemies and grabbing every soldier before moving on. Key mechanics include collecting power-ups that upgrade your weapons or provide temporary shields, and facing off against screen-filling bosses at the end of certain stages.
