I picked up Mucha Lucha! Mascaritas of the Lost Code for the Game Boy Advance back in 2003, a time when licensed platformers were everywhere. Ubisoft published it, and it was one of those games that felt perfectly suited for quick sessions on the handheld. It was based on the cartoon, so if you were into that show, it was a natural fit.

You control one of three young luchadores, each with their own exaggerated wrestling moves, and you move through side scrolling levels packed with masked enemies. The main goal is to recover pieces of a sacred code by fighting through themed stages, like a spooky forest or a dusty desert. You bounce off ropes to build momentum for attacks, and each character has a special move, like Rikochet's spinning top maneuver that clears groups of foes. The pacing is fast, and the difficulty is manageable, though some later stages demand precise timing. It feels chaotic and silly in a way that makes you smile, especially when you send an opponent flying with a perfectly timed dropkick.
