Play Muhammad Ali Heavyweight Boxing Online
Dodge and weave in a clunky 3D ring, throwing wild haymakers that drain your stamina—Ali’s there, but the real stars are these fictional brawlers who hit like trucks.

Muhammad Ali Heavyweight Boxing on the Sega Genesis is one of those early 90s sports games that tried something different—instead of just side-to-side action, you could actually circle your opponent in a 3D-ish ring. It’s a little janky by today’s standards, but back then, the way the camera rotated as you moved felt surprisingly fresh.
You’ve got two ways to play: arcade mode keeps things simple with basic jabs and power punches, while simulation mode gets weirdly technical—holding buttons to sway, duck, or throw specific hooks. I usually stuck with arcade because the simulation controls can be a bit much when you just want to throw hands. Ali’s in there, of course, along with nine made-up fighters who all punch like they’re swinging cinderblocks.
The stamina system actually matters—if you go wild throwing haymakers early, you’ll gas out fast, leaving you slow and weak. And if the fight goes to decision? Judges only care about who landed more punches, knockdowns be damned. There’s some digitized Ali voice clips too, which mostly sound like a robot with a cold, but hey, it’s the thought that counts.
It’s not the deepest boxing sim, but for a Genesis title, it’s got enough quirks to make a few rounds fun.
