Play Namco Gallery Vol.1 (Japan) Online

Three arcade classics—Pac-Man, Galaxian, Xevious—shrunk down to Game Boy size, still tense as ever when those ghost blobs close in or tanks zigzag under your bombs. That tinny bleep-bloop soundtrack and monochrome screen somehow make it feel even more urgent.

Game Overview

Namco Gallery Vol.1 came out for the Game Boy in 1995, a compilation from Namco that bundled three of their arcade hits into one cartridge. It was a practical way to carry Pac-Man, Galaxian, and Xevious around, fitting right into that era when handheld ports of older games were common and appreciated for their convenience.

You control familiar characters across three distinct games: guiding Pac-Man through mazes while avoiding ghosts, piloting a ship in Galaxian to shoot down diving enemies, and bombing ground targets in Xevious from above. The main objective in each is to score as many points as possible, often by clearing screens or surviving increasingly aggressive waves. Signature mechanics include maze navigation under time pressure, precise aiming against unpredictable enemy patterns, and managing limited firing rates. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty remains challenging, especially in later stages. It feels focused and immediate, pulling you into quick sessions of concentrated action.
