Play NHL 98 on sega Online

NHL 98 finally feels right—smoother skating, tighter controls for dekes, and commentary that doesn’t sound like a broken record. The players actually look human now, and those Olympic matchups hit different.

Game Overview

NHL 98 on the Sega Genesis feels like a proper upgrade—everything just moves smoother and faster than before. They ditched the awkward double-tap controls, so now you’ve got four action buttons to work with, which makes dekes and checks way more responsive. The commentary from Jim Hughson and Darryl Reaugh actually sounds fresh instead of recycled, and the whole presentation leans into that TV broadcast vibe, cutting to player close-ups during stoppages.

The graphics got a nice polish too—players look less like jagged polygons and more like, well, hockey players. And the new international teams are a blast, especially with the Olympics letting pros play for the first time that year. You can run a full 82-game season if you’re a masochist, or just jump into a best-of-seven playoff series. The penalty shootout mode is chaotic in the best way when you need a quick fix.

Honestly, it’s one of those rare sports sequels where you can actually feel the improvements instead of just reading about them in the manual.
