Nicktoons Unite! is one of those weird little GBA games that shouldn’t work but somehow does—imagine SpongeBob, Jimmy Neutron, and Danny Phantom all crammed into a side-scrolling adventure where they bicker while saving the universe. You switch between them mid-level, which is fun because SpongeBob’s bubble attacks feel ridiculous next to Danny’s ghost lasers. The puzzles are simple (mostly "hit this switch with the right character"), but the real charm is the dialogue. They nailed the early 2000s Nicktoons vibe, right down to Jimmy’s overcomplicated inventions backfiring.
It’s not gonna win awards for depth, but if you ever wanted to see a cartoon crossover where a sponge fights robots alongside a half-ghost kid, this is your jam. The nostalgia hits hard, especially if you grew up watching these shows. Just don’t expect it to be more than a silly, button-mashy good time.
