No Escape came out for the Sega Genesis in 1994, developed by Bits Corporation. It was one of those mid-90s action games that tried to do something a little different, blending stealth and brawling on an island prison setting. It didn't have the polish of some bigger titles from that era, but it had a distinct look and feel that made it memorable for those who gave it a shot.
You control a prisoner trying to break out, navigating the complex screen by screen. The main goal is to explore the prison, gather improvised weapons like shivs and pipes, and avoid or fight both guards and hostile inmates. Combat is close-quarters and a bit clunky, relying on timed strikes and dodges. The pacing is deliberate, often tense, as you sneak through corridors and scavenge for items. It feels like a rough, hands-on scramble for freedom where every corner could hide a new threat or a slim chance to advance.
