Play North & South Amiga Online
Action-strategy game set in the American Civil War. Play as Union or Confederate forces with turn-based map strategy and real-time battles. Features two-player mode and dynamic combat sequences. Released in 1989 for Amiga.

North & South came out on the Amiga in 1989 from Infogrames. It was a clever mix of strategy and action that felt right at home on the platform, offering something different from the pure shooters and adventures of the time.
You command either the Union or Confederate armies, managing your forces on a strategic map before jumping into real-time battles to capture forts and railroads. The main goal is to conquer all the states of your opponent. Key mechanics include moving regiments turn-by-turn across the map and then directly controlling your soldiers in side-scrolling combat; you can fire muskets, swing sabers, or even command a train. The pace shifts between thoughtful planning and frantic action, and the difficulty can spike during assaults. It feels chaotic and rewarding when you successfully overrun an enemy position.
